INFERTILITY IN MEN AND WOMEN
WHAT IS INFERTILITY?
When couples aren't able to produce any offspring. They cant make any babies.
THE RISK FACTORS
Age - when women turns 32 years old her fertility starts to drop and when a men turns before 42 years old his male fertility will drop too.
Smoking - women has a greater risk because u can lose you baby. Bothe men and women has a great risk infertility.
Alcohol consumption - it can lower a men fertility and it can seriously affect the women fertility.
Being obese and overweight - they may have fertility problems.
Over exercising - it can have problems in there ovulation.
Mental stress - it can affect female ovulation and sperm production.
CAUSES OF INFERTILITY IN WOMEN
Ovulation disorder - a disorder that is very common to women, if you don't have your have your menstrual or your menstrual has completely stopped.
Premature ovarian failure - when a women is in her 40's her ovaries will stop working.
PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) - women ovaries function abnormally.
Hyperprolactinemia - when prolactin is high it can affect women ovulation and fertility.
Poor egg quality - when eggs are damaged or they are develop genetic abnormalities wont make any babies.
PROBLEMS IN THE UTERUS OR FALLOPIAN TUBES
Surgery - if you had a pelvic surgery it can sometimes cause scarring and damage to the fallopian tube.Submucosal fibroids - they can block the fallopian tube, preventing sperm to fertilize the egg.
Endometriosis - it is found normally in the lining of the uterus but it starts growing somewhere else in the body.
Previous sterilization treatment - if the women had her fallopian blocked but the chance of being a fertile is not high.
MEDICATIONS
NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) - if a women takes aspirin or ibuprofen a very long time they may have a hard time to conceive.
Chemotherapy - some medicines they use before chemotherapy can result ovarian failure.
Illegal drugs - when women take marijuana and cocaine may have fertility problems.
CAUSES INFERTILITY IN MEN
No sperm - when men ejaculates no sperm are release.
Low sperm mobility - it can't swim properly.
Abnormal sperm - it has an unusual shape that it is hard for it to move.
MAY CAUSE SEMEN TO BE ABNORMAL
Overheating the testicles - going to hot tubs, working in a hot environment, and going to sauna a lot of times than you should.
Ejaculation disorders - it is hard for men to ejaculate.
Genetic abnormality - if it has to X chromosomes then the development of the testicles will be abnormal.
Cystic fibrosis - a chronic diseases that affect liver, lungs, pancreas, and intestines.
Diseases - diseases that can linked to lower fertility like anemia, cushing's syndrome, diabetes and thyroid diseases.
MEDICATIONS
Sulfasalazine - it is a anti-inflammatory drug that lowers men sperms.
Anabolic steroid - can seriously reduce sperm count.
TEST FOR MALES
General physical exam - when doctor will ask men about his medical history.
Semen analysis - they will research for sperm concentration, motility, color, and quality.
Ultrasound test - the doctor will determine if your retrograde ejaculation, ejaculatory duct obstruction and other abnormality.
Chlamydia test - will be prescribed antibiotics to treat it.
TEST FOR FEMALES
Hysterosalpingography - a fluid is injected in to a female's uterus and an X-Ray will shown.
Laparoscopy - a tube with a camera will into your abdomen and pelvis to look at the fallopian tube, uterus and ovaries.
Ovarian reserve testing - to test how effective the eggs after ovulation.
Genetic testing - to find out genetic abnormality.
